# The sleep papers and their companions

> Trial reports | Weight Loss Therapies — The Weight Loss Therapies reading list: the main sleep-apnea trial, timing and participant reports, with the obesity and safety papers cited on the site.

**Reading list**

The main trial, the later analyses, and the papers that put treatment burdens beside the overnight findings.

## Start with the overnight studies

The [main SURMOUNT-OSA report](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38912654/) is the starting point for the breathing-event results. Read it beside the [time-course and weight-association analysis](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41135142/), then the [participant-reported sleep and quality-of-life paper](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40774158/).

These are related publications from the same trial program. The later reports add questions and analyses; they should not be counted as fresh, separate populations confirming the original result.

## For the treatment-burden question

The [SURMOUNT-1 obesity trial](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35658024/) supplies the weight-management and gastrointestinal context used here. The [gallbladder and pancreatitis meta-analysis](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37908750/) addresses specific safety outcomes, while the [wider safety review](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41351656/) surveys tolerability and the remaining concerns across tirzepatide and GLP-1 receptor agonists.

The [SURMOUNT-4 withdrawal trial](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38078870/) is included for its weight findings. It belongs in the discussion of persistence, with the sleep-withdrawal question still open.

At Weight Loss Therapies my curiosity follows published research into the sleeping hours; this is an editorial site, not a treatment business, and these pages offer no medical advice.
